Public guide

How teec.click works

A short guide for using teec.click at a hackathon, conference, meetup, or demo night.

What it is

teec.click is a temporary public card for in-person tech events. You add a display name and the social handles you want to share. People nearby can find your card while your timer is running.

It is meant for quick contact swaps, not for building a permanent profile or attendee directory.

Quick start

  1. 1Open teec.click and choose Start.
  2. 2Allow location when the browser asks.
  3. 3Pick a display name.
  4. 4Add only the handles you want to share.
  5. 5Choose a timer from 3 to 24 hours.
  6. 6Use the radar or QR code to share your card.

Discovery, radius, and location fuzzing

Nearby discovery uses your browser location. The app looks for active profiles within a 3km event radius. That range is for rooms, campuses, and conference areas. It is not meant for city-wide search.

Before other attendees see your position, the server applies a random offset of roughly 100 metres. This helps avoid exact pins. It does not replace normal care at public events.

QR sharing

Every active card has a QR profile link. Use it when someone is next to you and wants your handles fast. The QR page shows the public details you chose to share.

If you edit or delete your active profile, the public card follows the app state. Screenshots and copied links outside the app are outside teec.click's control.

Privacy and deletion

  • No account, email, or phone number is required.
  • You choose which handles appear on the card.
  • A device fingerprint helps prove profile ownership and limit spam.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile may check that profile creation is human.
  • When the timer ends, the app schedules the profile for deletion from its database.
  • You can delete your own active profile early from the app.

Limits and troubleshooting

No nearby profiles

Check that location permission is allowed and that other people have active profiles inside the event radius.

Location looks slightly off

That is expected. Locations are fuzzed for privacy, and indoor GPS can be rough.

Profile creation fails

Refresh the page, check the bot challenge if one appears, and make sure the display name and handles fit the form limits.

Timer ended

The profile should stop appearing after it expires. Create a new one if you are still at the event and want to be visible again.
